    BancTec, Inc., a leading global provider of document scanning, processing, management and archival solutions, today announced significant enhancements to its S-Series color page scanner, making the S-Series more powerful, reliable and easy-to-service than ever. With the upgrades, BancTec reinforced its strong position as the value-leader in automated forms processing environments with standard or similar document sizes.
    With input from its users and partners, BancTec made significant improvements in several key elements of the S-Series, including improved auto- feeder durability; a back-vent to reduce dust inside the scanner; expanded user-configurable sorting capabilities; installation of a swinging backdoor in the scanner's cover to provide easier access to electronic components for preventative maintenance and repair; and reconfigured electronics to minimize dust and provide for better reliability in harsh processing environments and those with extended shifts.
    The new S-Series also incorporates the latest optics technology in its camera subsystems, eliminating image variations from page to page, and in turn, improving optical character recognition (OCR
    ) read rates and reducing OCR errors. In a production environment with 15 scanners, the enhanced optics camera subsystems are delivering a 20 percent reduction in OCR error rates, strengthening the S-Series scanner's best-in-class image and OCR quality.
