Vintage 1930’s Auto Union #31 RARE Tin Wind-Up With Box and Key. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.
Made in 1936 pre-war Germany. (*I would think not to many of these were made and even fewer have survived.)
WORKS! (Tested and it works as intended and designed.)
- Measures approximately 6" long.
Modeled after a famous German race car that in the mid 1930's achieved many land speed records. This particular toy race car example made in1936 would later become the precursor to a long line of German made race cars and the company, Auto Union, was the forerunner of Audi.
- Auto Union AG, Chemnitz, was an amalgamation of four German automobile manufacturers, founded in 1932 and established in 1936 in Chemnitz, Saxony. It is the immediate predecessor of Audi as it is known today which makes this pristine example with key and box a very rare toy race car indeed.
Condition: Car; LNIB with only the slightest of issues from gentle play but in no way detracts from the rarity and overall excellent condition, however there appears to be a few minuscule pin prick rust spots; One above the key hole and the other to the left side upper wheel well otherwise the car is absolutely pristine, key turns freely and the wheel lever underneath turns L-R freely as well,
- Car operates as intended and overall is in exceptional condition.
Box; it’s all there but one of the end tabs separated from the rest of the box a long time ago as evidenced by the vintage scotch tape at one time holding to the body of the rest of the box.
- Comes with key.
If you’re looking to add a Depression era made in pre-war Germany toy race car that “ticks” all the right boxes, I’d seriously consider this fantastic opportunity, it doesn’t get much better than this.
